Hearth & Home January 2015

Who Reads Hearth & Home?
Maverick Pickering, for one!

Overland Park, Kansas

Occupation: Outdoor Living Design/Build

Special Interests/Hobbies: “I’m passionate about movies, food and time with my three daughters.”

Status of the Outdoor Room Trend: “The Outdoor Room trend is hot, and it will stay that way. Clients are going from one Outdoor Room to several and the projects are bigger and bolder. The transition from inside living to outdoor living is getting blurred.”

Most Coveted Amenities in Outdoor Rooms: “Bold fireplaces, water fountains and outdoor kitchens are essential. We are seeing more pergolas and solid porch structures integrated into projects.”

Years Reading Hearth & Home: “10-plus years.”

Reasons for Reading Hearth & Home:Hearth & Home is the bible for our industry. No other publication provides the insight to help me, as a designer, to sell more projects. I read all the feedback from all the other retailers/builders to determine what is selling, and how they are selling.”

Article(s) Ideas: “I absolutely love the Outdoor Room edition (August) and the inspirational section called ‘Outdoor Room Design Ideas.’ The information that’s provided about other designers really helps me gauge where the trends are going. I would love to see that integrated into regular issues. Also, how about an article on Front Entryways?”
