The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) has announced that Ann Looper Pryor will join the organization as its first chief operating officer beginning Monday, March 2, 2015. She will be responsible for managing internal operations, finances, revenue development, external relations, and increasing the visibility of TCLF’s programs, among other duties.

“Ann is very smart, extremely talented, remarkably resourceful, entrepreneurial, and beloved both inside and outside of the landscape architecture community,” said Charles A. Birnbaum, president and CEO of The Cultural Landscape Foundation.

Pryor comes to TCLF from the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) where she has worked since 2002.  She joined ASLA’s staff as director of Public Relations and Resource Development and was promoted to managing director of Publishing and Resource Development and publisher of Landscape Architecture Magazine in 2008.

During her 12-year tenure at ASLA, she was best known for restructuring the honors and awards program, improving media coverage of the profession, and playing a significant role in increasing magazine advertising and trade show exhibit sales revenue, despite the economic recession. In 2011 she was made an honorary member of the ASLA in recognition of her work.

After graduating from the College of Charleston with a political science degree and working on Capitol Hill, Pryor began her career in the design and construction industry in 1989 as a lobbyist for the American Institute of Architects. In 1998, she joined McGraw-Hill’s Construction Information Group, serving as director of Regional Alliances until 2002.

“I’ve been an ardent admirer of TCLF’s good work for many years and I believe it’s on the precipice of extraordinary growth and recognition,” said Pryor. “I look forward to joining its talented staff and working with Charles and the Board to grow its resources to advance its mission.”
