In Memoriam
Ron Pulone
1931-2016

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Ron Pulone, a pioneer in the hearth industry dating back to the days when it was known as the WEI (Wood Energy Institute), passed away yesterday from complications related to colon and liver cancer.

Ron started in the fireplace business in the mid 1950s, working for his father, Ed Pulone, at Sunset Fireplace Manufacturing, known as the “premier manufacturer” of high-quality fireplace screens, toolsets and accessories.

During his 45-plus years in the business, Ron was chairman of the HPBA in 1987, and the Trade Show Committee chairman in 1990. He was fond of telling industry members, “We’ve got to keep the flame burning; if fire supports you, you should support fire.”

You always knew where Ron stood on a topic. Often outspoken on many of the industry’s issues, he was a die-hard supporter of the HPBA and the many things it stood for, and the many things it provided for its collective members.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, especially his wife Joy, and his three sons; Chris, Nick and Steve Pulone.

Funeral services are pending. For more information, please call Steve Pulone at (626) 665-3136.
