Ecocapsule: A Tiny Solar-and-Wind-Powered Mobile Home

Designed by Slovakian startup EcoCapsule, the 70 sq. ft. mobile home is composed of insulated steel, aluminum and fiberglass, and can generate as much as 1.35 kilowatts of electricity using a single wind turbine and integrated rooftop solar panels. A rechargeable battery with a seven-year life span can store up to 10kw.

Enter through a hatch in the 15-by-7-by-8-ft. pod to find a small stove, toilet and shower on one side, and a foldout bed and table on the other. The capsule’s wooden interior can be customized for various uses. The capsule, available later this year from the company’s website, costs about $90,000, plus shipping. That’s a whopping $1,285 a square foot!
