British Columbia to Require
Zero Net Energy in Single-Family Homes

Thursday, August 4, 2016

Last month, the City of Vancouver, British Columbia adopted a plan to require zero emissions from all new buildings by 2030 and from all new single-family homes by 2020. With hydro-generated electricity, British Columbia’s ultimate goal appears to be a total elimination of gas appliances and a shift toward all-electric buildings.

HPBA is closely monitoring those developments and other Zero Net Energy programs in both Canada and the U.S. In October, HPBA and HPBA Pacific will co-host a booth at the U.S. Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Los Angeles, which will feature information and images of zone-heating hearth products. The booth will also support hearth and grill products installed in an indoor show home built by KB homes. Contact John Crouch for more information.
