Pulte Homes Launches Millennial Community

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

By Paul Takahashi, Houston Business Journal

Pulte Homes, a national builder under PulteGroup Inc. (NYSE: PHM), has begun pre-sales in Hollister Oaks. The gated community will feature 55 two-story homes, ranging in size from 1,640 sq. ft. to 2,133 sq. ft.

The single-family homes will feature three or four bedrooms, first-floor living space, downstairs master bedroom, balconies, backyards and covered patios. Prices will start in the low $300,000s.

Hollister Oaks will feature pocket parks with green spaces and mature oak trees. Pulte is offering “hard hat tours” of Hollister Oaks by appointment, and plans to open the model home and community this fall.

Hollister Oaks is the first of several new communities, specially designed for Millennials, that Pulte is planning in Houston’s urban infill areas, said Tanya Rizzo, vice president of Sales for PulteGroup’s Houston division.

“It’s rare to find new homes for young families and Millennials located just minutes from downtown, yet offering community features not typical in high density city living,” Rizzo said.

After years of building three-story townhomes, several urban homebuilders, such as PulteGroup, Sandcastle Homes, Titan Homes, Partners in Building and Live Oak, are offering more affordable two-story homes with first-floor living, backyard spaces and downstairs master bedrooms.
