Weber-Stephen Moves Strongly in India

Friday, September 9, 2016

U.S.-based grill brand Weber-Stephen expects five percent of its global turnover to come from the Indian market in five years as it is expanding operations in the country by opening its own stores as well as tapping multi-brand outlets.

“We are expanding our operations in India and we expect the Indian market to contribute five percent to the company’s total turnover in five years time. We are investing in our people and educating people about using and cooking using barbecue,” said Brian Hendricks, regional vice president – Asia Pacific.

Weber Stephen Products is a privately held company and does not share its financial details. It has operations in 50 countries around the world.

After focusing on South India for over three years, the company forayed into North India with the launch of its first flagship store in July and also opened its first Grill Academy in the country.

The company presently operates one store in Delhi. It is in the process of opening new outlets in India by October next year.

Elaborating on expansion plans, Weber-Stephen Barbecue Products India Pvt managing director Manish Khandelwal said: “We are focused on expanding our operations in the North. We plan to have 15 operational stores by October next year across North India in Delhi, Haryana, Jammu and Punjab. We are also looking at increasing our points of sales.” At present, the company has 200 points of sales in India.
