Households with Disabled Members

A substantial 22 percent of American households include someone with a disability, according to the 2015 “American Housing Survey.” The percent of households with a disabled member rises from just 8% of households headed by people under age 35 to the 55 percent majority of households headed by people aged 75 or older.

Under age 35: 7.8%
Aged 35 to 44: 11.3%
Aged 45 to 54: 16.9%
Aged 55 to 64: 25.7%
Aged 65 to 74: 33.9%
Aged 75-plus: 55.2%
