As wildfires tear through Northern California, Operation BBQ Relief gears up to head out and feed the first responders and firefighters battling the raging flames.
"Wildfires are always a challenge," says Stan Hays, co-founder of Operation BBQ Relief, "Due to the nature of barbecue and smoking meats around a fire, we are generally told no. But this time the Fire Department, City of Santa Rosa and Sonoma County invited us to come help."
This disaster comes just after Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Jose hit Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, respectively, all three lasting from the end of August through the majority of September. Due to this, government resources and larger non-profit organizations are already running thin, including Operation BBQ Relief. None-the-less, OBR is willing to help in any way they can.
At this time, they have a call out for volunteers, equipment and donations to help fund their efforts in this disaster. To stay up to date on this deployment and others, the organization regularly updates their Facebook page with images, videos and information.
