Sutter Home & Hearth
Announces Ownership Transition

Tuesday, June 26, 2018

Daniel Hammer, the general manager of Sutter Home & Hearth, will be assuming an ownership role in the company as of July 1, 2018.

Michael Duval and John Miner, the former owners, will be transitioning to new roles in the 39-year-old company. Duval will be stepping out of daily operations while Miner continues to assist Hammer over the next 12 months.

“This is an excellent opportunity for both Sutter Home and Daniel to build on our success and carry our legacy into the coming decades,” said Duval. “He has been with us for many years and brings a strong educational and work background to his new position.”

In addition to his industry experience, Hammer is a graduate of the University of Washington and the Foster School of Business.

Sutter Home & Hearth was established in 1979. It began on Ballard Avenue in Seattle, Washington, as the Sutter Home Woodstove Co. In 1986 it was renamed Sutter Home & Hearth and opened its second store in Woodinville, Washington.

In 2011 the Seattle store moved to its current location at 920 NW Leary Way in Seattle. In 2012 the Woodinville store was closed and operations were consolidated at the Seattle location. The company sells fireplaces, barbecues and assorted hearth products. It employs 25 people in sales, installation and service.

“Our brand is associated with years of customer service success and our emphasis on quality,” added Duval. “Daniel’s leadership will further develop and enhance the ethos that John and I have nurtured.”
