Median Household Income Tops $61,000

Median household income climbed to $61,372 in 2017, according to the Census Bureau's Current Population Survey. This is 1.8% higher than the 2016 median, after adjusting for inflation. But not all age groups made gains. The youngest adults – householders under age 25 – saw their median household income fall by 5.8% between 2016 and 2017. Householders aged 25 to 34 struggled to keep up, their median income rising by just 0.1% after adjusting for inflation. Aged 65-plus: $41,125 (+1.1%)
