Update: Operation BBQ Relief

Wednesday, November 14, 2018

After 30 days in Florida our army of volunteers achieved amazing results feeding communities across the panhandle of Florida and even up into Georgia. We worked with over 150 different groups to get hot meals to those that needed them. We are so grateful for all the volunteers that served; we couldn’t have done it without you!

We had many firsts during this deployment. Below are just a few of them: two large-scale sites each serving over 20,000 meals a day at the high point; four years in a row producing over 50,000 meals a day, and we were on deployment serving food for 29 days.

Over the last 60 days we deployed to Hurricane Florence in North Carolina, and Michael in Florida, serving a total of 1,130,000 meals in the two locations. It took us 5.5 years to serve the first million meals, 25 months for the second million, and recently we did over a million meals in less than 60 days. This was only possible because of our amazing volunteers and YOU!

Below are the stats from the last month. If we look at each location separately, the Tallahassee location would be the 5th largest disaster we have ever done, and the Panama City location would be the largest.

808,220 meals served in Florida

1,160,828 meals year-to-date 2018

2,912,520 meals served since 2011

We are doing a small deployment right now to California Wildfires in Northern California. More to come...
