New Bursaries to Create WETT Training Opportunities for Rural Canadians

Zigi Gadomski, president of WETT, is very pleased to start the new year by announcing a new funding partnership with DuraVent and Security Chimneys. The two manufacturing companies have stepped forward with an overall five-year funding commitment in an effort to offset the costs of training for new students wishing to pursue WETT Certification.

In remote regions not served by natural gas distribution, solid-fuel is often the most popular source of primary heating for the home, which results in a high demand for trained professionals. However, it is challenging to meet that need because, according to Zigi Gadomski, “The costs of travel and accommodation to pursue training are a huge financial barrier. People just cannot afford it.”

To help address the lack of available trained professionals, each year DuraVent and Security Chimneys will be providing financial support for up to three deserving applicants through a training bursary. “Part of our role as a manufacturer is to encourage access to advanced training. We are happy to step in to help address the problem, and are confident these new bursaries will act as a catalyst to generate more WETT certified professionals in these regions,” said Scott Schindlbeck, executive vice president of Sales & Marketing for both companies. Gadomski wholeheartedly agreed, “WETT is very appreciative of this strong support from DuraVent and Security Chimneys.”
