Peter Fasano Introduces Outdoor Fabric Line

Thursday, June 13, 2019

A first for outdoor fabrics, Peter Fasano a prominent fabric and wall covering brand of Great Barrington, Massachusetts, is launching a true performance print fabric that is UV resistant, stain resistant, and available in the designers’ choice of pattern and color, all without the need for a post-printing outdoor treatment. The entire Peter Fasano collection, over 100 patterns, can now be printed-to-order as an outdoor performance fabric.

Today, there are more homes with indoor-outdoor, three-season living spaces that have created a need for a more innovative product in the marketplace.

“As part of our overall growth strategy, we have been listening to our clients and studying the marketplace to see what was missing,” says Reid Stewart, co-owner of Peter Fasano. “We were consistently hearing from clients that wanted to see more pattern and color options when shopping for outdoor fabrics, often stating that it would be great to have the ability to use Peter Fasano prints outdoors. With more homeowners extending their outdoor living spaces, the demand was increasing.”

To achieve this level of performance capability, the Peter Fasano in-house design team spent the past 12 months working with chemical engineers to develop a unique proprietary ink formula that is resilient to water and UV rays and is printable on water-resistant performance fabrics using their 41-year-old hand-screening print process. This allows the fabric to fully perform without requiring a post-printing weather treatment, so it maintains a uniquely soft hand and lasts longer than post-treated fabric.

Additionally, Peter Fasano is offering a performance woven in 11 different solid colorways, pairing perfectly with the Peter Fasano library of prints, both indoors and out. This beautifully soft woven has a great textured look and its Sunbrella fibers deliver all of the performance qualities designers have come to expect. It can also be used as a print ground for any of the Peter Fasano patterns.

“We are looking to make designers’ lives easier with print-to-order fabrics that are full of visually appealing patterns and colorways for their projects, both inside and now outdoors,” says Stewart’s business partner Peter Webster.
