Parting Shot: A Sizzling Promo

Ed. Note: When asked why he robbed banks, Willie Sutton once famously said, “Because that’s where the money is.” Well, Toyota and Napoleon joined forces to attend over 40 major events in Canada this year, because that’s where the people are.

In a promotion designed to gain exposure for both the Toyota Tundra and Napoleon grills, two special Tundra tailgating vehicles were created this year. One visited events in eastern Canada, the other worked the western section of the country. It began in April and runs through the end of the year.

The 4X4s were custom-fitted with built-in grills that can be pulled from the 8-ft. truck bed, along with a prep table and condiment areas. Throughout the summer months, the two Tundras worked (if you can call it that) their way around the country, stopping at major summer events such as the Ribfest in Toronto, the Poutine Fest in Montreal and Ag in Motion in Saskatoon.

Ed. Note: Poutine is a Canadian dish, originating in the province of Quebec, made with french fries and cheese curds topped with a light brown, gravy-like sauce. That dish seems worthy of its own festival, doesn’t it?

There will be additional appearances at events through the end of December, such as the Home Cottage and Condo Show (Quebec City, QC), Mane Event Expo (Chilliwack, BC), Buildex Calgary (Calgary, AB), Canadian Western Agribition (Regina, SK) and Construct Toronto (Toronto, ON).
