Parting Shot: A Slice of Heaven

There’s something about this image that’s compelling. At first sight, it seems to invite you in; small sections of wall on either side frame the image and, at the same time, hide what else is to be seen.

There’s an invitation to see and learn more.

Perhaps it’s the indigo blue of the water; or the brightness of the deck, reminiscent of wooden boats of the ’40s and ’50s, of the Garwoods and Chris-Crafts and Matthews.

That the deck juts above the water adds to that nautical theme.

The placement of two chairs and only a small table informs us that this setting is meant for the privacy of two – not one, which would make it a lonely setting, and certainly not three, for we all know that’s a crowd.

All is ready for the piece de resistance – the warmth and ambiance of a fireplace. Voila, we have romance!

In the distance the last glow of a sunny day can be seen over the waters of the Pacific.

Note: Overhead is a W-Series Infratech patio heater to keep the couple comfortable if temperatures drop.
