Fire pits are a fast-growing category. But one drawback is that it takes a lot of wasted natural gas or LP to get the desired large flames. That is, until now.
Warming Trends, a 20-year-old manufacturer of gas burner systems and fire pit kits, is now offering its Crossfire Brass Burner systems that the company’s in-house testing says produce “twice the flame while consuming half the fuel.”
Most gas burner systems rely on one orifice and one air mixer as the fuel enters the burner. The patent-pending Crossfire system features an individual orifice and air mixer at each flame port, allowing the air and gas to be balanced at each port for a larger and cleaner flame using less fuel and producing less noise. The flame ports are angled to provide a more interesting, dancing flame pattern.
The entire burner system is made of brass, eliminating concerns about corrosion and rusting, and earning the system a lifetime warranty. All parts are made in the U.S., either in house or locally at Warming Trends’ Littleton, Colorado, headquarters and factory. Stocked Crossfire burner systems total 16, with more on the way, ranging from 60,000 Btus to 350,000 Btus, but the company can custom make any configuration or size and has made systems up to 800,000 Btus.

“I saw this product, and I fell in love with it,” says recent investor and now CEO Divo Catozzo. “There are no burner systems like this, and these outperform them all. But the company needed fresh management to take it to the next level it deserves.” Catozzo admits that Crossfire burner systems are premium priced, but maintains that the long life of the burners plus the great reduction in fuel used makes these systems more affordable in the long run.
Warming Trends is now developing distribution throughout North America and is selling worldwide. Empire Distributing, Arcade, New York, recently was named Warming Trends’ East Coast distributor. “This is an incredible product,” says Mike Rupp, Empire’s president. “Our customers have never seen anything like it. We sold $300,000 worth in the first six months.”
“We don’t make fire features,” says Catozzo. “We just make them better.”
